An article in today's Wall Street Journal has just announced the end of the email era.
Actually, I think it's been on life support for some time already.
This leads me to ask, "Has 'the end of email' happened yet in your life, your classroom, your department, your campus or your college?"

Re: "Why wait for a response to an email when you get a quicker answer over instant messaging?" Anticipation (as I sit on the veranda sipping my tea) has its appeal. Mulling over how to word an email has its appeal. For now, I will enjoy being part of this recently-cutting-edge-technology-becomes-bygone-era activity. Mark, you've always been cutting edge, so, I predict that email may be fading, but not too quickly here at MATC. I think academia is inherently conservative. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteSo, maybe it's time for us to open a Facebook site for our ESL district-wide department. What do you think? It might be fun, but would it really be more useful? What do you think? What do you think the learning curve would be at your campus? We still e-mail issues with some at South.
